About VariationDesk

Built for the gap between doing the work and getting it agreed.

VariationDesk exists because extra work often has plenty of messages but no single dependable record. Our job is to make that record easier to create on site and easier to control in the office.

What we are building

A focused commercial workflow

Easy to learn

Small, role-specific surfaces instead of one crowded system.

Safe to rely on

Clear access boundaries, private evidence and action history.

Presentable to customers

Branded review pages, PDFs and emails without developer wording.

Practical support

Founder-led setup while the product and customer process are being proven together.

Product principles

How we decide what belongs in VariationDesk.

Solve one expensive problem well

VariationDesk is deliberately centred on additional work, evidence, approval and commercial handover rather than trying to become a general construction platform.

Keep the field experience light

A technician should see the project, the record and the next action. Detailed rates, reporting and configuration belong with the office roles responsible for them.

Show the history, not just the latest status

An approval is more useful when the instruction, evidence, decision, timestamps and later work remain connected to the same variation.

Build around real subcontractor feedback

Pilots are founder-led because early customers should be able to explain where the workflow helps, where it slows them down and what should stay simple.

Clear boundaries

Software should help the decision, not pretend to make it.

VariationDesk supports your contract process; it does not rewrite NEC, JCT or customer notice requirements.
A signature or remote response records what happened in the workflow; your business decides what authority that carries.
The platform prepares cleaner commercial information; an authorised office user still reviews the value before billing.
Advanced controls are disclosed progressively rather than filling the first screen with every report and setting.

Have a real workflow we should understand?

Tell us how your team currently handles instructions, quotations, sign-off and invoice backup. That is more useful than asking you to fit a generic demo script.
